And so it begins.  The Economy is showing signs of life once again.  All the repairs you have been putting off can no longer wait.  It is time to make a purchase.  Bad economy, wait-wait-wait, then buy, buy buy! Circle of life.  Each time we lose a few more sellers but, we gain more then we lose.  People who can’t find work decide it’s time to strike out on there own.  For the next few years they struggle with long hours and little pay.  They charge less to get your work and one day come to the realization that working 80 hour weeks for thirty hour pay is no worse then working three to four days a weeks.  And working for someone means minus the headaches.  So?  You bought your new furnace from this guy because he was so cheap.  Now he’s closed or worse in jail for not paying his unemployment tax.  There goes your guarantee.  Anyone who goes in business must be tough but that’s not enough.  You have to be ready to commit, like a marriage, in sickness and in health till death do you part.  One of you will have to bury the other.  As a contractor you and your family have to do whatever it takes to get through five years.  Nineout of ten small businesses go under in the first 2 years.  Over the next three years nine out of the next ten will join them.  Why?  Because within every five years the economy will collapse.  Surviving an economic collapse with your business teaches you what it takes.  I know new business owners are reading my blog.  Last 5 years and your their, and there is plenty of work for everyone.
