Hard Times for Old School Plumbing

Heating service is booming in this cold.  Plumbing is always crazy after the thaw.  The electrical is slow as predicted this time of year but we keep our electricians busy with low voltage stuff.

On many an occasion we have been so busy that we have referred our clients to another local contractor.  This referral was always made when people wanted someone local who would not “Ripe them off “.  Sad to say that these hard times have forced them to close their doors.  Naperville plumbing contractors, tip your hats, for but the grace of God.  I hope the employees of Lenert Plumbing land on their feet.  We wish them the best in this economic struggle.

Meanwhile the family is back in the house and we are slowly coming back to life.  The walk-in tub is super.  Two year old Stephen saw it in full Jet bubble mode and said “This my bath Dad!”

Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays and a “Festifus” for the rest of us.  Well the big freeze is here.  If your hose is still on, it’s too late now.  Take your hose off and don’t open it until it has been checked by a plumber.

Still not in our house but, the drywall is up and we are waiting for tape.  Then I’ll paint and put the floor in.  Sad to say we will not be comfortable on Christmas.  I blame the city of Naperville who took three months to review our blueprint.  It’s always the people who try to do things right that get slammed.  We lost an entire week because the inspector wanted half inch threaded rod installed in the corner of our house to protect us from tornadoes.  What the hell?  When you pull a permit, the City is supposed to protect you from dishonest contractors not nit-pick every square inch of your home displaying their ability to quote obscure codes.  And since I am the contractor, and the work was above and beyond code, each request was actually a demand.  Pulling a permit opens you to the wrath of annal tirents who should be looking for things done without permits and trucks with no phone numbers or names.

Hope your Christmas, or whatever you celebrate, is happy and uneventful,  Say a prayer for us and I’ll say one for you.

Winters here! Better safe then sorry.

Time to gear-up for the cold.

1. Search all around your house for signs of infestation.  A mouse or chipmunk hole could let cold air in were it has never gone before.  Water lines could be at risk.

2. Remove your hoses from outside spigots.  Remove even if yours is “Frost Free”.  Water trapped in the hose will freeze and expand and break.  Come spring time your basement will flood while you are trying to water the Begonias.

3. Take the black hose off your sump pump discharge.  We sell hundreds of pumps in Naperville because those hoses fill and freeze and burn out the impeller on you brand new pumps.

4. Get your furnace cleaned and checked by Expert Plumbing, Heating and Electric.  $ 99.95 will get this done for you.  Mention this blog and get ten dollars off.  That’s cleaned and checked for the winter just $89.99.

5. If you don’t know ask.  Send our experts an e-mail if you have question about winter prep.  There are no stupid questions, just stupid mistakes.

Meanwhile we are trying to squeeze all the mechanical into my addition.  Hoping to call for some inspections this week.  It is incedably stressful to be without me kids at night.

Sadly we have had three techs with deaths in there families.  If our response time has faltered it is because we have been short staffed over the last two weeks.  things should be normal by Wednesday the 4th.

P.S. Looking for a video called “Ballroom Dancing for Tough Guys”.  It’s instructional and out of New York.  If you have heard of it let me know.  I need it for a Christmas gift.

Going Green in Naperville

Hi.  Still waiting to get our home loan.  Once we do we will be putting things in our home that are green.  A windmill and solar panel in the garden to run the house trim lighting.  We look forward to displaying this system to the citizens of Naperville.  Once completed all will be welcome to stop buy.  Appointments can be made with my office at 630 579-1996.  Look forward to meeting you.  The loan situation is crazy.

What’s new for this Naperville Plumbing Contractor?

Well I’m finally breaking down and installing a tank-less heater in my home.  Despite it’s shortcomings people insist on believing the hype.  I will be taking , yet another, class on this product before installing it in my home.  We are getting ready for the addition to start.  Just picking up permits and what not.  It’s going to be a hell of a mess.  I’m still excited about all the cool new stuff.  Heated driveway, video surveillance, whole house intercom and music system, permanent LED house trim lighting, radiant heat, atrium…blah, blah, blah…come see it when were finished.  I’ll let you know when.
